Puerto Banus is a Marina located in the Marbella area. It was once a small town but in the 1960s Jose Banus, a property developer, built the marina. Today Puerto Banus is one of Europes most famous ports and is known as a playground for the rich and famous. The King of Saudi Arabia is known to regularly visit the area and his Yachts are often moored in the Marina. The resort has become popular with tourists, some return to their Puerto Banus Villas and Puerto Banus Apartments each year.
The Marina is known for its word class shopping, the area has many exclusive stores and fashion houses. The El Corte Ingles is one of the best shopping areas in the Costa del Sol. It hosts many brand name shops packed with the latest fashion items. Every Saturday Puerto Banus hosts a street market. It stretches from the Bullring to the centre of Puerto Banus and is one of the largest markets on the Costa del Sol. There is a large selection of goods to see and choose from at the market including; Bazaar, Art, Craftsmanship, Rustic furniture, Textiles and Antiques.
Typical of regions known for multi-millionaires Puerto Banus has a Casino, high quality restaurants and world beating Golf courses. The nearby Marbella has over 70 courses and is a Golfers Paradise with good golf weather throughout the year. One particularly notable course is Dama de Noche. It is a flood lit course, which allows play through the night, and is surrounded by flowers that open only at night.
The Nightlife in Puerto Banus is very lively. The streets come alive and there is a large selection of bars and clubs. Puerto Banus also has a group large cinemas, showing films in the english language.
